Even though the majority of entrepreneurs know to expect a certain level of increased business, but some are really flawed by just how much work goes into getting a business set up. It’s not just in the first year or so when an entrepreneur is at their busiest – in order to ensure a business is a continued success, most company owners end up working very long days indeed.

Sometimes, it can be difficult to cope with being so busy all the time. When things get too much, some people find that their stress levels increase considerably, which can have a hugely negative impact on their health. Obviously, you don’t ever want this to happen to you as it could result in some very serious consequences.

The best thing you can do to safeguard yourself as an entrepreneurs is to try to make sure that you don’t ever get too busy. You might not think that is possible, but it certainly is. Here are a few ways you can streamline your workflows and make sure that your work never gets on top of you.

Don’t Be Tempted To Multitask

One of the biggest that anyone can make is trying to multitask. You might have ready various online guides explaining how multitasking can save you a lot of time and how it is a necessary way to work for most entrepreneurs. However, this really isn’t the case. In fact, multitasking can end up being very unproductive, and you could find it simply slows you down. That’s because it will be very easy to end up distracted. Ideally, you should just focus on one task and try to prevent your attention from being distracted away by anything else. Not only is multitasking going to make it hard for you to focus, but you might find that you are prone to making mistakes and errors when working that way.

Get Someone Else To Do Things For You

You might find that your business goes through phases. One week, you may not feel like you have too much on your plate while other weeks might be quite overwhelming. When you are going through these very busy periods, you should think about delegating some of your work to others in the company. If your business is just you on your own, then you can always outsource some of your tasks to freelancers and contractors. I’m sure that your clients won’t be happy about that at all! So, before you do plan a meeting, think about what it is that you would want to communicate in the meeting. If you can communicate everything in a quick message or call, then do that instead.

Be Confident To Say No

When you work for yourself, it can be all too tempting to say yes to as many new work projects as you can. After all, it will mean you can earn more than just doing the bare minimum. However, saying yes to too many things could be very bad for your mental health as you could end up overloaded with work. Sure, don’t just say yes to the bare minimum amount of work, but make sure you have plenty to do in order to make a good income. It could be worth reviewing how many hours you need to work each week. Then when you have filled up all of those hours with projects, it’s time to say no to any others that come your way. I’m sure that most clients will understand if you are busy. You may even be able to work with them again in the future once you have got through your current busy phase.

Consider A Digital Detox

If you find that you end up wasting a lot of your time procrastinating on the internet or on your phone, you might want to see if taking part in a digital detox can help you. As part of this detox, you will learn how to become a lot less reliant on your phone. It is very surprising just how much time we spend scrolling mindlessly on our phones. If you are able to remove this from your daily schedule, then you might be amazed at just how much extra time you have through the day to fit in a bit more work.

Invest In Useful Tech

Do you get bored carrying out some of the more admin-based tasks that are essential in the running of your business? If so, you might want to look into automating them. There are now lots of computer programs and software that can help you carry out these basic tasks. All you need to do is enter in the various data and information, and these programs can effectively work with it to bring you the results you need to see. For instance, you might want to automate your stocktaking process so that you don’t have to spend too long taking care of your stock each week.

Work In Blocks

Many people find that working in short blocks can really help them with their productivity. One way to try this is to see how you get on with the Pomodoro method. This method states that you should work in short bursts of 25 minutes. During these 25 minutes, you should completely concentrate on the task in hand. Once the time is up, you can then enjoy a break of five minutes during which you can do whatever you want. After you’ve worked in four 25 minute chunks, you can then enjoy a longer break.

Think About Starting The Day Earlier

If you have tried a few of the tips above and nothing seems to be working, you might want to try starting your day earlier. Sure, it means getting up an hour or thirty minutes earlier than usual, but at least you will find a bit more time to squeeze in all of your work tasks. You never know, it may even make it easier for you to finish your day earlier too!
