There are always going to be those things in business that are sexy and those that are much less so. And we’re always going to find ourselves wanting to focus on the things that are much more fun. But in doing so, it’s easy to leave everything else behind – and that’s a surefire way to find yourself in a bit of a mess. One of the things that we may find building up is the admin we have to get done. Even when you first start your business or get into entrepreneurship, there are many behind-the-scenes things that need to get done. So let’s through some of the administrative things you’ll want to keep on top of.
Registering Your Business
For starters, you have the business to register. What this actually looks like can vary by the country and state that you live in. So make sure to look up your local laws and requirements about running and business and what you need to do to register things. It’s always a good idea to get this done early on, but if you forget, make sure that you do it as soon as you can.
Another thing that needs to be done is registering for your taxes. And if there’s ever anything that isn’t sext at all, it’s 100% this one. None of us are ever going to be that excited about paying taxes, but it needs to be done. And the longer you leave it, the harder it can be to deal with. You don’t want to get caught out or fined, so it’s best for you to tick this off early, start keeping money aside or your taxes, and pay them as early as you can.
Then we have the idea of managing your finances too. Again, if you don’t keep an eye on these, you may find that things just get a little bit messy – and that’s never what we want. Get set up with a business account, with someone like Evolve Bank & Trust, and plug it into your financial software. That way, you can keep an eye on everything and know where you are.
Another thing that is handy to sort out as early as possible is your admin workflows. No matter what business you have, you may find that you have lots of admin processes, such as sending contracts and invoices, chasing up emails, sending out sales emails, and more. This can be very repetitive and time-consuming. But being able to manage it all in one piece of software might help you here.
And finally, you’ll always have customer service to do. Again, regardless of what business model you have, you need to make sure that your clients and customers are happy. You don’t want to leave them after you’ve sold something to find out things aren’t working out for them. So having a process in place to check in on your patrons is always a great idea.
