There are so many websites out there that make me sad. And probably not for the reason you are thinking. Well, some of them are because they are hideous, but the majority are because they are so vanilla.

Not that there is anything wrong with vanilla. But for me, vanilla = boring; lacking personality; playing it safe.

When you are playing it safe, you are casting your net too wide. You are trying to be all things to all people. And you are probably not doing it very well. Because that is not how this all works.

You have to be you. You have to deliver your message. And your website must be a reflection of you and your message.

The only way for the people who need you and what you offer to find you is for you to be authentically and unabashedly yourself. If you have the nerve to put yourself out there on the internet for the world to see, at least have the cojones to do it as yourself.

Don’t play it safe. Don’t water down your magic. Don’t let anyone dull your shine.

There will be people who will not like your message. Or you, for that matter. That is to be expected. And it’s really okay.

The only way to deal with them is to not worry about them. They weren’t going to give you their money anyway.
